Keurig Dr Pepper is revolutionizing single-serve coffee with its new Keurig Alta brewing system. This innovative system introduces K-Rounds, a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic and aluminum coffee pods.

What Are K-Rounds?

K-Rounds are made from ground and pressed coffee beans wrapped in a plant-based coating. This protective coating preserves the coffee’s flavor and aroma without using plastic or aluminum. Keurig describes this new format as a “revolutionary single-serve coffee system” designed to enhance taste while promoting sustainability.

How The Keurig Alta System Works

The Keurig Alta brewer offers compatibility with both K-Rounds and traditional K-Cup pods. It’s designed to make various hot and cold barista-style beverages. The brewer automatically reads a code on each K-Round to adjust pressure and extraction settings. This feature ensures the best flavor, aroma, and quality for each coffee type.

Testing and Launch Plans

Keurig is currently testing the Alta system with beta trials that began in fall 2024. The company plans to gather feedback from retailers and coffee partners during this phase. The insights will help optimize the system before a full-scale release.
